This week we bring to you May Yu!
What were/was your position(s) with CaseIT, and what years were you part of the OC?
I was the Director of Admin in 2009, Chair in 2010 and a Senior Advisor in 2011
What is your occupation/job title? Is your current employment related to your degree?
I have graduated with a Bachelor of Business Admin with Honours. My focus is Marketing & MIS and am Currently Assistant Brand Manager at Procter & Gamble in Toronto, Canada
How did SFU and post secondary studies benefit your career today? In your opinion, how important do you think it is to be involved in school events and why?
While chairing CaseIT, I honed leadership and teamwork skills that were fundamental to my role at Procter & Gamble. Being involved in CaseIT has been one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life, where I met some of my life-long friends. I am a strong advocate of exchange and case competitions – do it while you’re still in school, you will have fun and build valuable practical skills at the same time!
How long have you been active with CaseIT? Are you still involved? What steered you to take a position as part of the OC?
4 years and counting, currently on the newly founded Board of Directors.
I was convinced to join the OC by a former OC member, I’ve been hooked ever since!
If you could sum up the planning and execution stages of CaseIT in one word what would it be and why?
What is your most memorable moment from CaseIT?
A candlelight dinner atop Grouse Mountain in CaseIT 2010 when we had the power out. Best part was seeing the OC do a little skit to warm up the crowd, followed by outstanding performances by the rest of the university teams as an icebreaker!
